I want to touch on the 3 types of traffic that you will get to your website or online sales funnel.
By now, you will have read about (or listened to on the T4s Podcast) knowing your customer and how aware they are of you and your product and service.
By knowing these things, you can apply them to the correct funnel and massively increase your conversion rate – because your message is spot on.
No surprises – we don’t want to surprise your potential customers. The only decision they should have to make is, “Do I buy or not?” and then help them make the correct decision!
So what types of traffic exist, and how can you bring that traffic to your online funnel?
1. Paid Traffic
This traffic is any that you pay for. Google Adwords, Facebook Ads, Newsletter/Ezine ads, classified ads, influencer shout-outs….
Any traffic that you have to get your credit card out for.
You want to be in a position when you know that for every $1 you spend on paid traffic, you can return a profit. Ideally a factor of at least three.
To spend money before you know if your message will work – that’s the biggest error that people make.
You must first hone your message on a small audience to test, test and test your message again until you know that it is working.
And only then you can start paying for traffic.
For T4S Traffic for Sales, I tested a small group in person first. Worked with them as closely as they wanted. To see if my offer, my message and my service would fit their problem.
Only then can I be sure that I’m not wasting money on paid traffic.
The great news is that once you know you have a message that is converting an ad to traffic, to your funnel, you can switch it on and off and control the volume fairly easily.
Before using paid traffic, be sure that your message is on point!
And… be sure that your sales value ladder is ready to receive them.
For the next up-sell (or whatever) you must have tested your message and your offer so you don’t waste that traffic. To fail to plan, is to plan to fail.
2. Referred Traffic
Traffic that is sent to you from others is referred traffic. This can be via affiliate schemes, joint ventures, swap shout outs, blog mentions, social media, offline conversations – any thing when one person is telling others to check you out.
Who can you approach to get their referral? Send them free trials, product samples – anything where they can then decide if they want to promote you. And then reward them HEAVILY!
The referring person is effectively endorsing your product or service, gaining credibility from the referrer.
For example, I run an affiliate scheme and pay all affiliates (anyone can be one) HALF of what referred members pay. Every month.
I want them to get rich referring t4s.site, and I want more members, and the new member will love the service. It’s a win-win-win situation, which is what you strive for.
And then everyone on t4s.site can set up affiliates for their own funnels, so they can reward referred traffic to their funnel.
Aim for the win-win-win scenario, it’s the referral pot of gold!
3. Earned Traffic
You have to put in the work, but it can be free traffic financially.
Search engine optimisation, being constantly visible on social media, blog posts with great value, publishing books, support to those who ask for it.
You give, give, give.
And in return you get traffic that you’ve earned.
I use earned traffic a lot. I will answer any questions, and offer a stream of high value. It builds a reputation as the “funnel guy” with credibility.
So you can get the highest amount of credibility with earned traffic but, it is a longer game, and takes time.
But can then last a long time due to the trust and loyalty you will have built up.
This tactic is particularly key in the early stages of your offer, and when money is tight.
As you grow volume and customers, and income, you can then move your shift to paid advertising traffic and referral traffic.
